Designing a gentle itinerary

Leave gaps in a daily plan. A journey across a city, a queue or a longer lunch can easily use more time than expected. Group nearby activities and avoid arranging every day as if it were a race between appointments.

Choose one priority and a few optional stops. Check accessibility, opening hours and transport arrangements with the relevant venue or operator. A flexible itinerary is not an unfinished plan. It is a practical way to travel comfortably and allow an unexpected discovery without losing the structure of the day.

Notebook exercise

Take ten minutes to record one detail from your own day. Include the date and setting, then leave the page open for a later observation. Keep any private information out of a version you share.
