A simple colour study

Choose a scene and record five colours you notice. They might come from painted walls, fabric, signs or the sky. Give them your own descriptive names if you are not using a formal palette. A colour study is a record of perception rather than a precise measurement.

Try the exercise again at a different time of day. Compare what changed and what stayed familiar. If you share the study, explain its setting without exposing private information. Small exercises like this make a notebook distinctive through observation, not through complicated tools.

Notebook exercise

Take ten minutes to record one detail from your own day. Include the date and setting, then leave the page open for a later observation. Keep any private information out of a version you share.
